Free high-speed Wi-Fi now available in Campbell County parks

Fast, free public Wi-Fi is now available at Pendery Park, AJ Jolly Park and AJ Jolly Golf Course in Campbell County.

Visitors can now access the high-speed Wi-Fi network at the park’s golf course clubhouse, as well as in select areas of the parks/equestrian facilities and campgrounds.

“Campbell County continues to lead the way in improving the experience for our residents and visitors to our parks,” said Judge and Administrator Steve Pendery in a press release. “Visitors now have access to their favorite music, videos, eBooks and social media online as part of their park experience.”

Altafiber will oversee the management of the Wi-Fi networks in the parks and on the golf course. John Putnam, director of sales at Altafiber, said the partnership reflects Altafiber’s commitment to helping its partners get the most out of the technology.

“Altafiber’s Wi-Fi network will provide connectivity to thousands of visitors to AJ Jolly Park and Pendery Park every day, but that’s only part of the benefit,” Putnam said in a press release. “If visitors sign up to the Wi-Fi network and opt in to receive messages, they will receive email updates about park amenities, special offers and upcoming events, further enhancing the visitor experience.”

John B. Scola, director of Altafiber’s mobility program, said the infrastructure will allow Campbell County to eventually add a range of connectivity options, including sensors in the parks to monitor water levels and quality, air quality and the functionality of various devices.

The Campbell County Fiscal Court used American Rescue Plan Act funds for this project. The county did not use general funds for this project.
