French country decorating shop in Bethlehem joins forces with long-established Allentown flower shop

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The owner of a Christmas City design and decorating business who describes herself as an “Allentonian at heart” said now is the time to move the business to the Queen City.

Michelle Olson, owner of the French country-style design store Marché Maison, announced in a press release Monday that her store – which has operated in the Kemerer Museum of Decorative Arts in Bethlehem for the past six months – will move to the Phoebe Floral Shop in Allentown.

Both this year and last year, Phoebe Floral participated in its “April in Paris” shopping event, accompanying Marché Maison with its “Parisian-inspired” flower cart where shoppers could put together fresh bouquets.

Olson said her first stop when purchasing trips to Paris is always the florist, as she happens to love all things flowers and France.

“Moving Marché Maison to Phoebe Floral seems like a natural move as Phoebe celebrates each season with fresh and silk flowers, while Marché Maison is all about creating a sense of home and celebrating each season with home decor.”

“Moving from Marché Maison to Phoebe Floral seems like a natural move as Phoebe celebrates each season with fresh and silk flowers, while Marché Maison is all about creating a sense of home and celebrating each season with interior design,” she said.

Phoebe Floral has been in business for nearly 100 years and has been located at 2102 Hamilton St. since 1988.

“We are excited to add Marché Maison to our location,” said Jack Robinson, owner of Phoebe Floral. “It’s vintage; the French flair fits well with our business and our customer base.”

Olson said she expects to travel to Paris and Provence, France, next month to purchase more vintage pieces for the new store at Phoebe Floral.

The company’s move to Allentown follows Olson’s six-plus-year partnership with Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites.

Before its location in the Kemerer Museum, Marché Maison was located in the Goundie House on Main Street.
