From mother to mother: Baby Kaden goes home

From mother to mother: Baby Kaden goes home

A young mother whose story we told earlier in this week’s Mom to Mom segment has some good news this Friday.

Local 10’s Nicole Perez spoke with 33-year-old Jade Quatro, who can now take her four-and-a-half-month-old son, Kaden, home.

He was born in the 23rd week.

Kaden’s due date was June 30, but he was born on March 9 at Holtz Children’s Hospital in Miami-Dade County.

Jade and her husband live in North Carolina but were in Aruba for their baby moon when Jade began experiencing complications.

Doctors told Jade and her husband that this only happens in three percent of pregnancies.

Her family is eagerly waiting to meet him.

The nurses told Jade that little Kaden was a miracle. He had no surgeries during his stay in the NICU and now weighs nine pounds.

“It’s incredible. A dream come true,” said Kevin Quatro.

“It’s mind-blowing. It’s still surreal. Honestly, not being pregnant with him. But seeing how far he’s come. He’s a totally different baby, but the strongest, smallest human I’ve ever seen,” Jade Quatro said.

During her hospital stay, Jade and her husband met ICU Baby.

“ICU Baby is an organization that brings NICU families together and provides them with financial, emotional and informational support to help them succeed in the NICU,” said Elizabeth Simonton, executive director of ICU Baby.

The nonprofit organization helps families at five different hospitals in South Florida.

ICU Baby helps about 1,000 families each year, but would like to do more.
