Further stations lay the foundation for ZoneCasting

Further stations lay the foundation for ZoneCasting

According to GBS, 12 stations in nine markets have now started the process

GeoBroadcast solutions announced that four more U.S. stations plan to use ZoneCasting FM’s geotargeting technology.

“These broadcasters represent a diverse range of markets, formats and communities, all looking to leverage the benefits of hyperlocal content delivery to better serve their audiences and advertisers,” the company said in a press release.

According to GBS, the following stations have begun the process: WKTT in Salisbury/Ocean City (Maryland), KPKL in Spokane (Washington), WEIB in Springfield (Massachusetts) and KAFF in Flagstaff (Arizona).

GBS said ZoneCasting-related applications had been submitted by 12 broadcasters in nine markets.

The FCC began allowing FM repeaters to broadcast three minutes per hour of programming in May. The commission is accepting applications for one-year renewable experimental licenses while it develops the final rules for geotargeting. If an FM station does not yet have a booster, it must first apply for one and then apply for geotargeting permission.
