A Garda station in Monaghan which was closed for three months for “urgent” electrical work has reopened its doors this morning, Garda chiefs confirmed.

Clones Garda Station was closed on 20 May to carry out “essential maintenance”.

To counteract this development, Garda chiefs expanded the district’s community policing model.

As part of this policy, the Community Police patrol car was used for a series of consultations throughout the area.

The official phased reopening of the station prompted senior Gardaí to announce that they intend to continue their clinical approach in the coming weeks.

“Clones Garda Station has officially reopened following the completion of essential maintenance work,” a Garda spokesman said, thanking the public for their cooperation with the temporary hospital service.

“Due to the success of this service, we intend to continue our clinic visits in the region.”

“We will release details as soon as preparations are complete.”

The new planned opening hours for Clones Garda Station this week are as follows: Monday 12 August, 8am-10am; Tuesday 13 August, 7am-9am; Wednesday 14 August, 6pm-8pm; Thursday 15 August, 6pm-8pm.

*The above times are intended by Gardaí to facilitate residents conducting general enquiries or processing documents.

“When the station is closed to the public, our members are on patrol and responding to calls from the community,” the spokesperson added.
