Gas tariff for households in Singapore increases by 0.73 cents in the first quarter of 2024

SINGAPORE – Gas tariffs for households in Singapore will increase by 0.73 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh) – before the nine percent goods and services tax (GST) – to 23.15 cents per kWh for the period from 1 January 2024 to 31 March 2024.

Currently, households pay 22.42 cents per kilowatt hour.

City Energy, Singapore’s sole provider of city gas, said in a statement on Friday (December 29) that the increase was due to higher costs compared to the previous quarter.

In the previous quarter from October 1 to December 31, 2023, City Energy had raised gas tariffs by 0.51 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh) to 22.42 cents per kWh. The gas supplier justified this at the time with higher fuel costs compared to the previous quarter.

City Energy said that the gas tariffs were reviewed based on guidelines from the Energy Market Authority (EMA), the regulator of the gas industry. The following revised gas tariffs were approved by the EMA:
