While pump prices rose in Ohio, the national average price of gasoline fell 3.2 cents per gallon last week, averaging $3.41 per gallon. The national average is down 11.6 cents per gallon from last month and is 42.5 cents per gallon lower than last year, according to data from GasBuddy, compiled from more than 11 million weekly price reports from more than 150,000 gas stations nationwide.

“As long as we can avoid a major hurricane threatening refineries in the Gulf region, I believe we could see further declines this week, with the national average potentially falling to its lowest level of the summer,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “However, if economic data comes in better than expected, there could still be a short-lived recovery. While some states, particularly in the Great Lakes and Florida, could also see gasoline prices rise in line with normal price fluctuations, overall prices in all states remain lower than they were a year ago.”
