Giants WR Malik Nabers makes two spectacular catches on TD drive

CLEVELAND – New York Giants rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers scored the second career touchdown with a spectacular leaping and spinning catch with 1:44 left in the second quarter against the Cleveland Browns at Huntington Bank Field.

The 3-yard touchdown gave New York a 14-7 lead late in the first half.

Nabers was running through the end zone in the left back when he jumped up to catch the ball. In doing so, he twisted his body and brought his right foot to the ground as his body fell out of the end zone. After a quick review, it was determined that his second foot hit the ground before his hand.

It was Nabers’ second spectacular catch of the drive. Just four plays earlier, he had caught the ball with a leap over the head of cornerback Martin Emerson Jr. That catch went 28 yards and Nabers ripped the ball away from Emerson right down the left sideline.

The No. 6 pick in this year’s draft scored a second touchdown with 11 seconds left in the first half. Nabers, who was lined up on the left, ran through the end zone and scored a 5-yard touchdown, giving the Giants a 21-7 halftime lead.

The rookie wide receiver had six catches for 66 yards and two touchdowns in the first half.
