Goods valued at over ,500 stolen from several stores in Goldsboro, 4 people arrested

GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WTVD) – Four people were arrested Saturday after police said they stole more than $5,700 worth of merchandise from four Goldsboro stores.

According to Goldsboro Police, officers responded to calls about a theft at Dick’s Sporting Goods at 505 Eastgate Drive. When officers arrived, they received a description of several suspects and a vehicle

According to police, officers attempted to stop the suspect’s vehicle, which was later found traveling westbound on US-70. After a 22-mile pursuit into Wilson, the vehicle stopped and four people ran from the car and led officers on foot.

An investigation revealed that four people stole over $5,700 worth of items from Dick’s Sporting Goods on Eastgate Drive, JCPenney, Ross and TJ Maxx on N. Berkeley Blvd in Goldsboro. Authorities said all stolen items were returned to the stores.

Chaquan Whitaker, 29, of Wilson is charged with two counts of fleeing with a motor vehicle, burglary, two counts of grand larceny, two counts of petit larceny, resisting a public official, reckless endangerment by driving without a license, failure to obey a red light, aggravated possession of Sch II (Wilson Co.) under OFA and OFA PWIMSD Sch II (Wilson Co.).

Aqilya Spells 36, of Wilson, two counts of grand larceny, two counts of petit larceny, OFA-assault on a government official (Wilson Co.), OFA-probation violation (Wilson Co.), OFA-aid and aid to larceny (Wilson Co.), OFA-petit larceny (Wilson Co.).

Hydeia Spells, 22, of Wilson is charged with two counts of grand larceny and two counts of simple larceny.

Antwone Barnes, 43, of Wilson is charged with two counts of larceny, resisting a public official and two counts of theft. He is being held on $18,000 bail.

Whitaker, Aqilya Spells and Hydeia Spells are all being held without bail.
