Gordon Ramsay reacts to his daughter and Olympic athlete’s engagement announcement

Gordon Ramsay has commented on the engagement of his daughter Holly Ramsay to British Olympic swimming champion Adam Peaty.

“Congratulations to you both! We are so happy and enjoying this moment! Welcome to the family @adam_peaty,” the celebrity chef posted under Holly’s engagement announcement on Instagram.

In a message shared on his own Instagram account, the 57-year-old added: “Happy birthday to this gorgeous girl @hollyramsayy… I’m so happy for you and @adam_peaty! Hols, seeing how you’ve grown into the woman you are today with your kindness and love is absolutely infectious… Adam is a very lucky man! Welcome to the family. One down, two to go.”

Newsweek has emailed Gordon Ramsay’s representative for further comment.

The 24-year-old shared several photos with a heartfelt caption on social media on Thursday after the proposal.

“I’m marrying my best friend. I honestly can’t put into words how I feel right now. I still remember how big my smile was when I came home the morning after my first date with you,” wrote Holly Ramsay. “Thank you for making the little girl inside me feel loved, seen and happier than ever. I love you and can’t wait to be your wife.”

She added: “I promise to always be here for you and George. I’m so grateful to be in his life and I can’t wait to experience more. Everything is better with you. Everything is better since you. Here’s to eternity. And now remain faith, hope and love, these three. But the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:13.”

At the time of publication, her post had more than 30,000 likes and Gordon Ramsay’s comment had 545 likes. Others also shared their enthusiasm for the couple in the replies.

“I couldn’t be happier for you both!! I love you,” said her sister Tilly Ramsay.

“Oh my god!!!! I am so happy for you both! Your love makes me smile! Congratulations you beautiful people! Xxx,” wrote blogger Giovanna Fletcher.

“Oh wow! Congratulations Holly!!,” shared internet personality Carmen Montero Mundt, while DJ Will Manning posted: “Holly!!!!! Mega congratulations!! Welcome to the engaged club.”

Peaty meanwhile added: “🕊️🤍.”

The 29-year-old swimming gold medalist penned a separate message on his own social media, writing: “I can’t believe you are going to be my wife. I am truly the luckiest man on earth to have such a gentle, caring and beautiful woman by my side. You fill my heart to the brim and give my soul peace.”

He also mentioned Holly Ramsay’s family. “Her family has always been so generous with their time, their feelings and their trust. I can’t wait to be reunited with them too. I have always believed that two people who are engaged and later marry are no longer two people but become one and it is the greatest privilege to share this with you.”

The couple met in 2021 when Peaty and Tilly Ramsay were contestants Be sure to come and dancethe British version of Dancing with the starsIn June last year they made their romance public.

Englishman Peaty has won a total of six Olympic medals, including three gold medals. He specialises in breaststroke and has competed in the last three Olympic Games, most recently finishing second in the men’s 100-metre breaststroke final at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

In an interview with the British newspaper The timesPeaty commented on whether he plans to compete in the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

“I will stay fit and train for two years,” he said. “But I will take a break and focus on other things. I’m trying to find a balance between my work and my personality outside of sport.”
