As a mom, I’m always careful about what my son eats. We check packaging and ingredients and do our best to make sure he’s getting the best. But sometimes products you think are safe can be full of dangerous substances. That’s why it’s shocking to hear that a popular brand of apple juice sold at Walmart has been recalled due to unsafe levels of inorganic arsenic.

The recall affects Great Value brand apple juice, specifically the 6-pack of 8oz bottles with UPC 0-78742-29655-5. If you have this apple juice at home, check the best before date – if it December 28, 2024it is part of the recall. This product was sold in 25 states, including here in Michigan, as well as Puerto Rico and Washington, DC

Inorganic arsenic is highly toxic and poses serious health risks, especially to our children. Although the FDA has stated that the arsenic levels in the juice are low enough to not cause immediate harm, the fact that this chemical is present should be alarming to us parents – especially at such a high level. Although arsenic occurs naturally in apples, it was not the case in this scenario.

Moms who want to keep their families safe should do the following: If you purchased this Great Value apple juice, either return it to Walmart for a refund or throw it away. It is better to be safe than sorry, especially when it comes to your little ones.
