Green Bay Airport helps fans with Packers departure to Brazil

ASHWAUBENON, Wisconsin (WBAY) – The Green Bay Packers will play their first NFL game in South America to kick off their regular season.

And Green Bay Austin Straubel International Airport knows that fans want to give their team a warm farewell or follow the players to Brazil.

The Packers will face the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday, September 6, at the Corinthians Arena in São Paulo.

If you want to be in the stands at the Corinthians Arena, the airport said American, Delta and United Airlines flights are booking up quickly and travel packages are selling out. Matchday packages are still availableincluding up to 10 tickets.

Fans traveling to Brazil with Austin Straubel will find themed decorations, mannequins dressed for Carnival, and Brazilian soccer player Pele for photo opportunities before heading to security. After security, there’s more to see, including travel posters for Brazil from the 1920s.

Don’t have a ticket? Watch the Packers plane from the airport observation deck (or from the short-term paid parking lot, then walk to the fence).

Their American Airlines B777-300ER is scheduled to arrive in Green Bay at 4:20 a.m. on Wednesday, September 4. The team will depart for São Paulo at 7:20 a.m.

Plan in advance to return home on Saturday, September 7, as your plane is scheduled to arrive at 11:15 a.m. the day after the game.

Titletown hosts Packers watch party for Brazil game

The game will take place on Friday, September 6th, at 7:30 p.m. Central Time. For those who are not traveling to the land of palm trees, the Green Bay Packers are hosting a Watch party on Ariens Hill in Titletown. Registration is required but free. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. The watch party includes live music starting at 5 p.m., a meet and greet with Packers alumni and a few surprises at halftime.
