Greg Gutfeld asks about “Russian dolls” in mixed metaphor for the second attempted rampage against Trump

Greg Gutfeld asks about “Russian dolls” in mixed metaphor for the second attempted rampage against Trump

The Democrats “are determined to control the coverage of Trump’s second brush with death,” Greg Gutfeld said on Wednesday on “The Five.” The party, Gutfeld continued, insists that Trump himself is a threat, which makes the comments about the attempted assassination on Sunday a threat. “It’s like those Russian dolls. It just gets worse.”

Donald Trump is a special guest on Wednesday night’s episode of “Gutfeld.” The host of the show made this clear with a short excerpt from the interview between the two on “The Five.” In the moment shared by Gutfeld, Trump joked: “I’ve always said golf is a very dangerous game.”

“Especially when they’re playing with you,” Gutfeld replied. Trump also praised the Secret Service, calling the agent who discovered the weapon near Mar-a-Lago “very extraordinary” for doing so.

The exchange between the two also surprised Gutfeld’s co-hosts and drew noticeable gasps. Gutfeld asked, “What? That was a mean joke?” and asked Trump, “If they had told you the shooter was there, would you have tried to take him out with your 3-wood?”

“I think so. I think so if I knew,” Trump said. “Actually, the Secret Service did a great job. They saw the muzzle of a gun, a big gun, and he came out through bushes, and how many people would see that? That was really something very special of him.”

Tonight’s “Gutfeld” broadcast marks Trump’s first studio appearance on a late-night television or cable show during an election cycle since he was interviewed on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” in 2016.

Trump and Gutfeld are joined by Kat Timpf and Tyrus as well as “Outnumbered” presenter Emily Compagno.

Ryan Wesley Routh, the suspect in Sunday’s shooting attempt, made his first court appearance in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Monday. He was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.

Routh was described as “calm and collected” throughout his court appearance. He told the judge that he has a 25-year-old son and his only possessions are two trucks in Hawaii, each worth about $1,000.
