  • Delaware man arrested for multiple shoplifting incidents in New Castle County

NEW CASTLE COUNTY, DE — Delaware State Police have arrested Spenson Sanchez, 46, of Wilmington, Delaware, following a series of shoplifting incidents in New Castle County.

In recent months, Sanchez has been involved in 24 shoplifting incidents, stealing over $36,000 worth of merchandise from various local stores.

From May 15 to August 5, 2024, police officers were called to investigate numerous shoplifting incidents in which a black male suspect fled from several stores, including ACME, Best Buy, Burlington, and others. Through detailed investigative work, Sanchez was identified as the suspect behind these thefts, although not all of his accomplices were arrested or identified.

The arrest was made on August 8, 2024, after a police officer responding to a recent shoplifting report at Ross Dress for Less in Newark recognized Sanchez in a surveillance photo.

Since the police officer knew Sanchez from previous cases and was aware of the existing arrest warrants against him, he was able to arrest him a short time later in a nearby Marshalls store, where he was again accused of shoplifting.

Sanchez, who is currently accused of multiple theft offenses, remains under investigation while police continue to search for other accomplices involved in these retail crimes.
