Guru Indian Restaurant was founded in Clermont in 2014 by Master Chef Uday Kadam after owning award-winning restaurants in Orlando and across Florida. Every dining experience at Guru Indian Restaurant starts with a complimentary welcome plate of pappadam chips served with onions and sweet mango chutney as a gift. You will always be asked for your desired flavors and spiciness levels. Each dish is prepared according to your preference, from mild or regular to medium or spicy and extra spicy. Their 6 specialty biryani are tender Hyderabadi meat and basmati rice combinations. They offer numerous tasty side dishes like sweet mango chutney, raita and pappadam. They offer a wide range of different main dishes; 17 of them are vegetable specialties and 8 of them, many of which are prepared as vegan dishes.
For dessert, they offer homemade mango and pistachio ice cream, rice pudding, gulab jamun and ras malai. Ice cold beer and a selection of wines complement each meal. One of the most popular refreshments is the cold mango lassi smoothie, while others enjoy Indian chai tea, lemonades or ice water. All 10 delicious naan breads are baked fresh for you in clay ovens.

Uday Kadam hails from a small village 300 miles south of Mumbai, India. His father was a teacher and Kadam’s first “guru.” While studying in Bombay, Kadam worked at the famous restaurant at the Taj Mahal Hotel. He learned and worked under the talents of many respected restaurant cooking gurus who taught and encouraged him in what would become his life’s greatest dream. He began his professional career as a manager for Marriott hotel restaurants in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Egypt before coming to the United States to work in 1982. Kadam has over 40 years of experience as a respected top chef in the professional restaurant business in the U.S. Here in Orlando, he served as the Food and Beverage Manager at the Disney Polynesian. Kadam notes, “The word guru means ‘master’ and ‘a teacher who imparts.’ Growing up, I was fortunate to work for and learn from the best of the best at Marriott and Disney!”
