Hampden-Sydney College was named to the Princeton Review’s list of the 390 best colleges for 2025, ranking in the top 10 in ten categories.






The publication is based exclusively on surveys of 168,000 students at 390 colleges and includes 50 rankings in categories such as academic offerings, amenities, campus services and extracurricular activities, each of which includes the top 25 colleges of the universities listed in the book.

Hampden-Sydney made it into the top 10 in 10 categories, including:

Best College Library #2
Most politically active students #3
Top 20 Best Schools for Internships (Private) #3
Top 20 best alumni networks (private) #3
Friendliest Students #5
Best Career Services #7

The college also ranked in the top 20 in eight other categories, including “Happiest Students” (15th), “Highest Race and Class Interaction” (13th), “Best College Newspaper” (18th), “Students Love These Colleges” (13th), and “Most Community Involvement” (18th).

Hampden-Sydney consistently stands out in categories such as “Best Career Advice” (up five spots from 2024), “Most Racial/Class Interaction” (up six spots from 2024), and “Friendliest Students” (up one spot from 2024). Earlier this year, Hampden-Sydney was one of only four schools in Virginia to make the Princeton Review’s list of “Best Value Colleges.”
