Hanah Steakhouse, an Asian fusion restaurant in downtown Detroit that opened in 2022, has closed.

The restaurant announced it was for sale via Facebook and Instagram, revealing few details other than asking potential buyers to message the team for more information.

Hanah is located in the historic US Mortgage Bond Building, which opened in 1925. The restaurant occupies the Shelby Street space formerly occupied by Brome Modern Eatery. It opened quietly in November 2022, but made a big splash with its charming decor and second-floor seating on a skybridge where guests could enjoy decadent steaks while taking in views of downtown Detroit.

The menu combined traditional steakhouse dishes with Asian flavors and sushi. Many plates featured bright garnishes such as bright orchids and banana leaves under the sushi rolls. The venue was also decorated with a giant pink cherry blossom tree, lit from below, with petals trailing along the ceiling. The stairs to the skybridge were lined with a plant wall and purple neon lighting.

The family-owned business is run by brothers Peter and Christopher Han. The duo also operates Osaka Japanese Steakhouse in Clawson and Shelby Township, as well as another recently opened Asian fusion concept, Nuevo Seoul in downtown Detroit. Their goal was to bring an exciting, eye-catching concept to Detroit.

The Hans declined to comment on the sale. However, further details can be found on various real estate websites and on Facebook Marketplace.

The company’s market value is $1.15 million and appears to be encouraging another restaurateur to capitalize on downtown Detroit’s attractions.

“This is your chance to own a restaurant that serves some of the most delicious steaks and sushi in Michigan. But it can also be converted into a restaurant serving other cuisines!” reads one ad.

Interested buyers can contact the agent through any of the real estate posts featuring the property or message Hanah directly through Facebook or Instagram.
