Hard-to-place cats in Massachusetts need a loving home

Hard-to-place cats in Massachusetts need a loving home

Hard-to-place cats across Massachusetts receive special attention as shelters waive adoption fees in the hopes of finding the cats loving homes.

“We’ve been focusing a lot on dogs lately, and that makes sense given the ongoing dog population crisis,” said Mike Keiley, vice president of animal welfare at MSPCA-Angell. “But we and many other shelters in the coalition also have some cats that have been in our care for some time and need additional support.”

Certain cats are available for adoption without a fee through Aug. 30. These include senior cats, those with special medical or behavioral needs, working cats and those with more distinct personalities who are looking for homes they might otherwise have a hard time finding, according to the MSPCA.

Other animal shelters and humane organizations participating in the event include WARL, Berkshire Humane, Dakin Humane Society, Thomas J O’Connor Animal Control, Lowell Humane, Animal Protection Center of Southeastern Massachusetts (APCSM), and Baypath Humane Society of Hopkinton.

Below you will find some of the cats available for adoption.

Midnight loves to play and is the “queen of her castle”.

“She loves peacock feathers and wand toys and would be a perfect mouse hunter as she loves chasing things on the floor,” the Human Society wrote. “Midnight loves attention, but sometimes too much for her own good and can become overstimulated.”
