It was a confrontation the likes of which Donald Trump has rarely experienced in its aggressiveness, disrespect and devastating insults.

Harris attacked him for his achievements and his personality in a way that he is not exposed to in interviews with journalists – neutral or not.
She used the structured hostility of a trained prosecutor to unsettle Trump.
His answer was nevertheless forceful.
While she called herself the president of all Americans, he dismissed her as the worst vice president of all time, whose time in the White House had been a failure.
He did his best to steer the discussion toward issues where he was confident he could win, such as immigration and the economy, using familiar arguments that would resonate with his voting base.

Harris never intended to win over this part of the electorate. He is unflappable through all the ups and downs.
She will hope to find a middle ground with a confident and assertive performance, prove her qualifications for the office and have a reason not to vote for Trump.
Winning this debate meant that the viewer was convinced by one candidate or the other and emerged with increased authority and credibility.
Democrats praised Harris’ performance, while Republicans insisted that their husband had prevailed in the end.
Curiously, Donald Trump then made an unscheduled appearance in the Spin Room and answered questions from journalists.
It raises the question: why not let a 90-minute debate speak for itself?
Perhaps it was this act that said a lot about a man who had not said enough.
