Heavy rain coming to Charlotte Metro as Francine and warm front move north

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) – Get ready for several rain showers heading our way as the remnants of Francine and a warm front slowly move north.

  • Rest of Thursday: Cloudy, late showers
  • First alarm Friday and Saturday: Showers likely, some thunderstorms possible
  • Sunday: Scattered showers
  • First weather warning day Monday: Heavy rain possible, cooler

The rest of Thursday afternoon will be cloudy and mild with highs between 25 and 27 degrees.

Later in the evening, rain showers will spread from west to east across the Charlotte metropolitan area and continue into the night.

Heavy rain is expected at times on Friday morning, with isolated showers possible in the afternoon; maximum temperatures will be just over 25 degrees.

On Saturday, the combination of the warm front and the remnants of Francine will likely result in a wet and windy day with some afternoon thunderstorms. Highs on Saturday will be above 25 degrees.

There will be no rain on Sunday, but isolated showers are possible, especially in the afternoon; maximum temperatures will be around 27 degrees.

During the night between Sunday and Monday we will be watching for a low pressure system to form off the coast. If the low pressure system forms and moves further inland, we could see heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms at times on Monday. The mild and wet conditions will continue on Tuesday and Wednesday, with highs remaining above 25 degrees Celsius.
