It is not certain whether Puka Nacua will be ready to play on Sunday when the Los Angeles Rams face the Arizona Cardinals on the road.

On Monday afternoon, ESPN on X’s Adam Schefter reported that Nacua’s participation “will likely be evaluated on a week-to-week basis” after he left Sunday’s season-opening game against the Detroit Lions with a knee injury. However, according to Schefter, BYU’s sophomore wide receiver is still under evaluation.

Schefter reported that the injury was an aggravation of the one that kept him out for much of training camp.

Nacua left Sunday’s game in the second quarter after catching a ball, but returned a short time later, only to leave the game for good after a brief appearance.

The NBC broadcast of the game reported that Nacua was carried off the field at halftime. The 23-year-old Nacua finished the night with four catches for 35 yards.

Nacua, a fifth-round draft pick of the Rams in 2023 (177th overall), was a revelation as a rookie last season, setting NFL records for most receptions in a season by a rookie (105) and most receiving yards in a season by a rookie (1,486).

In addition, he was awarded Pro Bowl honors and named to the All-Pro second team.
