Highlights from BYU’s dominant win over No. 13 Kansas State

In 39 seconds of play, BYU fought back from a 6-3 deficit against No. 13 Kansas State to a 17-6 lead at halftime. The madness didn’t end there, though, as BYU outscored Kansas State 21-3 in the second half to win comfortably 38-9. Here are the highlights from BYU’s convincing win over Kansas State.

BYU’s defense was the highlight of the night. The Cougars not only kept the Wildcats out of the end zone (for the second straight game against a P4 opponent), but also contributed to the score.

BYU’s first touchdown of the night was a scoop-and-score by freshman Tommy Prassas. Linebacker Jack Kelly batted the ball loose and Prassas scooped it up and returned it for six points.

The second touchdown also came about as a result of a turnover. BYU quarterback Jake Retzlaff found Chase Roberts for a quick touchdown after an interception by Tyler Batty. This gave BYU a 17-6 lead.

The third touchdown was an exact copy of the second touchdown. Harrison Taggart intercepted Avery Johnson’s pass and it took BYU’s offense just two plays to get the ball into the end zone.

The fourth touchdown registered almost on the Richter scale. After botching the first punt, Parker Kingston grabbed the ball inside his own 10-yard line and outran Kansas State’s entire punt coverage team for the punt return touchdown.

The fifth and final touchdown of the evening was scored by freshman running back Sione Moa. Moa bounced off potential tacklers and scored a 21-yard touchdown.

With the win, BYU improves its record to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the conference.
