Holiday gas stations in Alaska are converting to Circle K. The change comes seven years after Circle K’s Canada-based parent company, Alimentation Couche-Tard, bought Holiday.

Chris Barnes, Circle K’s communications director, said in an email that the company has been converting stores across the country over the past two years.

He said the company is taking a market-by-market approach. In Alaska, those changes began earlier this year, but he said he’s “not sure where we are on the schedule.”

There are 25 Holiday and Circle K stores in Alaska, 17 in Anchorage, four in Fairbanks, two in Wasilla and two on the Kenai Peninsula. All four Fairbanks stores had converted to the new brand by mid-May, but a handful of Anchorage stores have not yet been remodeled.

Couche-Tard had originally said it would keep the Holiday name because it was well-known and recognized, but where the company has made the switch, Barnes said customers can still enjoy the same products and services that Holiday offers.

Barnes said Circle K decorations and uniforms have been available in local stores for several years.

The company told the Anchorage Daily News in February that it expected to complete the transition in the coming months, with weather playing a role.
