This special feature Billy Joel in a “New York state of mind”.

Although the talented pianist and songwriter never owned this Highland Falls, NY, property, it served as a major inspiration for one of his biggest hits. Now it’s for sale for $1,995,000.

According to the property description of the nine-bedroom villa, Joel wrote the famous song – a kind of love letter to New York – on this very spot.

And according to the New York Post, the Piano Man also wrote other songs from his 1976 album “Turnstiles” in this house, including the aptly named “Summer, Highland Falls.”

This 5,788 square meter property is rich in royal details from the time when it was owned by JPMorgan Chase & Co. and over the years it has served as a retreat for the multi-platinum artist.

The charming mansion, which is touted as a “cottage style” home, was designed by the architects of Peabody & Stearns and features a double-sided fireplace between the main living area and the sunny great room.

The all-white kitchen features stainless steel appliances and a generous island for prep and serving. In addition to the bedrooms in the main house, the property also offers a one-bedroom cottage with an en-suite bathroom and a carriage house with three additional bedrooms and two bathrooms.

But it is the great outdoors that makes this property truly special. Located right on the banks of the majestic Hudson River, the views from the lawn and terrace are spectacular. There is also a very large pool, beautiful gardens and mature trees.

Joel’s career is legendary, spanning 14 albums and more than three dozen hits, including “Just The Way You Are,” “Only The Good Die Young,” “It’s Still Rock and Roll To Me,” and “Uptown Girl,” to name a few.

At age 75, Joel recently concluded his ten-year residency at New York’s Madison Square Garden, where he performed over 100 concerts, nearly one a month, except for brief interruptions during the COVID-19 pandemic.
