Hosts of “The View” criticize Dancing with the Stars for casting convicted felon Anna Delvey

The view Moderators criticized ABCs Dancing with the stars for the inclusion of convicted felon Anna Delvey in the program of the new season.

Delvey, 33, is a Russian-born German citizen who was sentenced to four years in prison after being found guilty of defrauding banks, hotels and individuals of more than $200,000. She was released in 2021 before being taken into Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody for violating the terms of her visa.

She was later granted house arrest, which she is still serving, and has since gained international fame after Netflix released its miniseries in 2022 The invention of Anna based on their lives.

In the Thursday episode (8 September) of The viewWhoopi Goldberg criticized Delvey’s unfair privileges.

“I think back to all the families whose family members were arrested by ICE, who went to court to get their father or mother or brother back,” said the Sister act said Star. “And this woman was given permission to do this. Am I supposed to think there’s a reason for this? Is there a two-tier system here at ICE?”

The fraudster recently announced that she had received permission from ICE to DWTS.

Sunny Hostin agreed: “She defrauded so many people and then spent about two years in prison and then had to spend another 18 months in prison for overstaying her permit and visa. So she committed another crime and what is the consequence of that? A jewelled ankle bracelet and an appearance on a TV show.”

At the launch event for DWTSDelvey said she will be decorating her ankle bracelet with jewels while on the show.

“We have a felon running for president. Why are we surprised?” Sara Haines responded, referring to former President Donald Trump, who was found guilty in May of falsifying business records.

Hostin acknowledged that she too liked a comeback story, but asked, “But when do people’s actions in this country have consequences?”

Joy Behar then interrupted the scene to announce a new spin-off series featuring Trump and other convicted politicians that Dancing with the serious criminals.

Alyssa Farah Griffin chimed in, adding, “I’m here to make amends, not to rehabilitate, and the difference is this: It’s about someone owning up and taking responsibility for their mistakes.”

Griffin argued that she wasn’t so sure Delvey did that. “She still owes people money and scammers tend to be scammers. So I would say if you’re around her, I would be cautious about any schemes she might be hatching.”

To return to her original point, Goldberg said she doesn’t understand why Delvey is “allowed to stay” in America.

“Because she’s pretty!” Behar said, to which Goldberg replied, “Well, that’s a little sour. I like pretty people, too. But I listen to people complaining about what’s happening at the border, and I listen to all these people complaining about all these people who shouldn’t be here. So what the hell?”

Delvey will team up with professional dancer Ezra Sosa in season 33 of. Dancing with the starswhich premieres on Tuesday, September 17th at 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC and airs weekly thereafter.
