It must be exhausting rooting for anyone other than Taylor Swift at the MTV Video Music Awards, as the pop superstar never fails to dominate.

Swift cleaned up at the VMAs on Wednesday, taking home the most statues with seven and breaking the record for most wins by any solo artist in history with 30.

The evening was marked by major victories for the singer. First, she received the award for best collaboration for “Fortnight,” the song “Tortured Poets Department” with Post Malone. Malone came on stage with Swift and she honored him as “the person everyone in music loves to work with the most.”

At the end of the night, Swift took home the top award for Video of the Year for “Fortnight.” She holds the record for most wins in the category with five, including three consecutive wins since 2022, for “Bad Blood,” “You Need to Calm Down,” “All Too Well,” “Anti-Hero” and “Fortnight.”

Did Taylor Swift announce “Reputation (Taylor’s Version)” at the VMAs?

Swifties, prone to a bit of clowning, sat on the edge of their seats, waiting for the singer to make an announcement on stage—possibly the long-awaited release date of “Reputation (Taylor’s Version).” But Swift didn’t announce “Reputation” or anything else, so the wait for her next re-recorded album continues.

However, theories that she might announce news weren’t too unrealistic, considering Swift’s last two albums of all-new material were both announced at awards shows: “The Tortured Poets Department” at the 2024 Grammys and “Midnights” at the 2022 VMAs. The singer received some backlash for announcing “Tortured Poets” at the Grammys, with some critics arguing that she stole the show from the other artists and their wins that night.

Still, Swift gave her fans something to touch in her final speech of the night when she nodded to her boyfriend Travis Kelce, which shook the roof of Long Island’s UBS Arena and left fans screaming with excitement.

“Whenever I would finish a take and say cut and we would finish that take, I would always hear someone from the studio where we were shooting cheering and yelling ‘Woo!'” Swift said. “And that one person was my friend Travis. Everything that man touches turns into happiness and fun and magic.”
