Steamworld Heist 2 offers six jobs that you can use with your various crew members. They all start as one job, but can easily be changed to another job to fit the party composition you like best.




As you change jobs and level up your crew in those jobs, they unlock different skills that are active while using the job with that skill. Cogs allow players to use unlocked skills when they have a different job, allowing them to utilize the best skills possible while still using the weapon they feel is best.

Gears are Used for skills that have already been unlocked and activates them when you use another job. than that skill originally came from. After changing jobs, go to the skill tree of a job where you unlocked a skill. Underneath the skill, you’ll see gear-shaped holes that indicate how many gears are needed to activate that skill. Gears can be used and removed from skills as many times as you like, making it easy to mix and match different builds to find what you like best.


Gears can only be used for skills that have already been unlocked for a job. This means that crew members will have to use that job for a few missions until they unlock the skill they want. This is also a great way to gain reputation.

Each crew member has their own number of Cogs and everyone starts with a few when they first join. Each job’s skill tree has a level that gives that crew member an additional gear. Although it varies from job to job, most additional gear upgrades happen around level two or three. Some accessories also give crew members more gear, but they can cost a lot and take up a tool slot.

Jobs are tied to the weapon the character uses, and changing jobs is as easy as changing weapons, which can often be purchased with gallons. In the crew member menu, the second option from the top left is their weapon, and selecting this will allow you to select a new available weapon from your inventory. The class icon will appear next to the weapon and When the crew member is equipped with this weapon, their level changes to match the level of the new job.In total, players have six jobs to choose from.

There are no restrictions or limitations on who can use which weapon, giving players great freedom in putting together their party.
