How to navigate the crowds on the second weekend of The Big E

How to navigate the crowds on the second weekend of The Big E

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Saturday marks the start of the second weekend of the Big E, which is often one of the busiest times at the fair.

Nice weather brings big crowds to the Big E

The first week of the Big E was a record year, with nearly 122,000 attendees last Saturday. Now, as we enter the show’s historically busiest weekend, attendees can expect even higher numbers.

Be aware of crowds as you walk the fairgrounds on Saturday. Be aware that there will be lines, so be patient. It’s best to get there early, especially if you plan on buying tickets at the entrance. Tickets can still be purchased online, however, and if you buy them in advance, you may be able to save some line time.

Traffic is heavier in the afternoon and evening, and public parking is available at Gate 9 or in residential areas along and off Memorial Ave. Of course, once you walk through the gates, you’re in for a special day, as Saturday is all about the Green Mountain State, so head to the Vermont Building to celebrate Vermont Day with your favorite maple syrup treats or some Ben & Jerry’s.

Temperatures will be around 70 degrees on Saturday, so dress accordingly and wear comfortable shoes so you’re well prepared to walk around and enjoy everything the Big E has to offer.
