How to unlock variants in Concord

Unity gives players all the information they need to know what a character is capable of and how to use them. However, some things may not be easy to understand at first, such as using variants of all the different freegunners.

Those looking to add the Concord Platinum Trophy to their collection can use this guide to simplify the process.

Players must assemble a crew from the many different Freegunners featured in the game. They can also use variants of these characters to have different combat characteristics during matches. This determines what the character roster will look like during matches. If you only include the standard variants in this roster, you will only have access to those versions of the Freegunner.

How variants work in Concord

Go to the Freegunners section in the main menu — here you will find the Crew Builder. You can assign 12 crew members in any order, 5 of which must be unique characters. If you only have Lennox Variant I in your active crew, then only these Lennox will be playable for the game. However, you can include different variants of the same character in this lineup and use the one you like best.

Each variant has a different combat characteristic to use, and changing crew members will give crew bonuses. This means that you can choose a character of your choice for their Crew Bonus before switching to another Freegunner, or pairing another character with one of their variants – all in the same crew. Players can create multiple crews with different Freegunners assigned to them and decide what lineup they want for different game modes.

By default, Lennox can perform a combat role that allows him to reload his weapon, which is comparable to a certain hero from Overwatch, while Lennox’s Variant II has more ammo instead, so a crew bonus that reduces the cooldown on dodge is a better start for Variant I. This makes assembling your crew a worthwhile task.

Lennox is perfect for Concord players who want to deal a constant barrage of damage while also healing when heal points are unavailable.

How to unlock variants in Concord

To the left of the Freegunners area is the Job marketHere you can see your daily, weekly and seasonal jobs. These all give you XP for your level in the game. On the far right of these tabs you will find Variants and reputation. Variants offer a series of high-value, time-limited jobs. Complete all of these jobs within the time limit and the variant will be added to your Freegunners lineup.

Reputation, on the other hand, offers various rewards as you work your way through the game. These can be many forms of cosmetic items, but you will also unlock variants. You cannot see the next reward until you have completed the current one.
