How to watch college football with Fubo amid Disney vs. DirecTV dispute

During the first week of the college football season, DirecTV customers were in for an unpleasant surprise: a broadcast blackout on all Disney channels (including the ESPN family of networks).

This leaves DirecTV customers wondering how they can watch college football during Week 2 and beyond, especially given the wide variety of sports broadcasts by ABC, ESPN and others.

Although DirecTV and Disney are still at loggerheads over the carrier’s fees (which led to DirecTV dropping all Disney-owned channels from its service), there are other ways for college football fans to watch games, at least until a solution is found. And as is increasingly the case, the answer is streaming.

Here’s how DirecTV fans can watch college football with Fubo.

Which channels are blocked on DirecTV?

All Disney-owned channels are blocked on DirecTV. For college football fans, that means games broadcast on ABC (in certain markets) and the ESPN family of networks (including the ACC and SEC networks) will be blocked.

This includes:

  • ESPN
  • ESPN2
  • ESPNU
  • ESP News
  • ACC Network
  • SEC Network

The block also affects ABC stations in markets across the country where ABC owns the station. This means customers in the following markets will not be able to watch ABC:

  • Chicago
  • Houston
  • Los Angeles
  • new York
  • Philadelphia
  • Raleigh-Durham (North Carolina)
  • San Francisco Bay Area
  • Fresno-Visalia (California)
