FOND DU LAC – For the first time in over 40 years, legendary professional wrestler and WWE Hall of Famer Terry Bollea – better known as Hulk Hogan – made an appearance in Fond du Lac as he continued a promotional tour for his new soft drink brand, Real American Beer.

Hundreds of fans flocked to the Walmart-hosted garden center and took advantage of the rare opportunity to meet and greet the retired superstar in person.

“I was overly excited when I first heard that the Hulkster was coming to Fond du Lac,” said Brice Hernandez, a Fondy native.

“At first I thought it wasn’t true. I’ve idolized him since I was a kid and I’m a huge wrestling fan. I knew I had to meet him.”

Hernandez also said he wanted to make sure he arrived on time to ensure he could meet him.

“I was the tenth person in line at 7:30 a.m. and waited in line for four hours very nervous. I spent the time talking and mingling with the other Hulk Hogan fans,” Hernandez said. “When it was 11:15 a.m., the atmosphere changed immediately when he walked into the building. I was super nervous, but the experience was exactly what I imagined it would be.”

Hogan greeted the crowd inside after arriving about 15 minutes late, but made up for his tardiness by staying over half an hour longer than his announced time frame of 11 a.m. to noon, ensuring that each of the 250 Hulkamanics who filled the garden center had a chance to meet him.

Some fans were turned away and instead waited outside near the entrance to the garden centre to catch a glimpse of their hero’s arrival and departure.

As for the product Hogan wanted to promote, Hernandez gave his seal of approval: “The beer tastes great too!”
