I found my new favourite shop on Bold Street and you must visit it

I’ve always said that if I hadn’t become a journalist, I would have chosen interior design. I love everything to do with the aesthetics of the home and things that, well, look beautiful, so you can imagine how much I fell in love when I came across Søstrene Grene.

Bold Street is teeming with quirky little shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. There really is a bit of everything here, so it’s easy to see why it’s so popular with people in Liverpool. It was actually one of the first places I visited when I moved here. I even went to Leaf for brunch and a glass of wine to celebrate the morning I went to see my house. I’m sorry I haven’t written about Bold Street yet, but stumbling across Søstrene Grene – aka my new favourite shop – was definitely worth an article of its own.

The best way I can describe it is as a more aesthetically pleasing Ikea for adults. Remember when your parents took you to Ikea as a child and it was an oasis full of beds to play around in, mini rooms to explore and mazes of construction kits to run around in? That’s what it feels like when you enter Søstrene Grene.

Søstrene Grene is a Danish-inspired store divided into mini exhibitions – it’s hard to explain – but you’ll see candles on the shelves in a mini living room decorated almost like dollhouses and I absolutely love it. For a girl like me who loves aesthetics, it’s honestly just the most beautiful store I’ve ever set foot in.

Everything is just so darn cute, like the floral stationery and candles – I love candles – and all the cute little things. Honestly, the shop alone is worth any visit to Bold Street if you haven’t been there. And the best part is that it’s actually really affordable. You’d be shocked at how cheap things are because they look so expensive!

Of course, there isn’t just that one shop on Bold Street, in fact it’s a haven for quirky vintage and independent retailers. The vintage shops on this street are of a level I’ve never experienced before – I thought Leeds (where I lived before Liverpool) would be good, but no, no.

Bold Street Top is the best any day. I think Cow is one of my favourites, I found some great deals there – definitely worth a visit.

The awesomeness of Bold Street doesn’t end there though. There are countless places to eat and drink from all cuisines and the bar scene is simply second to none – some of my favourite bars are in this area. Oh and you must also stop by Bold Street Coffee for an iced latte, they are delicious. I would definitely recommend heading to Bold Street if you are new to the city, there are endless things to see and explore, trust me you will love it – and be sure to stop by my favourite local shop.
