Ignited unveils new Shelby home for women with addiction issues

SHELBY – Kimberly Mosler has experienced the power of addiction first hand.

Towards the end of her time at nursing school, she said her addiction had “peaked” to the point where Mosler was unable to take the stage at the graduation ceremony.

During a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, Mosler, founder of Ignited, said she is living proof of what God can do in a person’s life and that recovery from addiction is possible.

“I have personally experienced the pitfalls of addiction,” she said. “I myself have been in rehab for seven years.”

Ignited is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide hope to women struggling with addiction or having life control issues.

The organization partners with Ohio Recovery Housing – a coalition of individuals and organizations that operate high-quality recovery housing in Ohio – to support women on their path to recovery.

Ignited, a faith-based organization, unveiled its new ORH-certified home in Shelby at 19 W. Whitney Ave. on Monday afternoon.

“These shelters will provide women with a safe place to heal, grow and experience change in their lives,” Mosler said.

“We just want to give women hope and show them that there is hope and healing is possible.”

“It’s a place where they can feel at home”

Ignited offers a holistic approach that “assists in a person’s spiritual, mental, emotional and physical recovery.”

The home, located on West Whitney Avenue, provides space for six women to recover in a safe environment while continuing to receive counseling and support, attend meetings and go to church, all while continuing to work on developing healthy living and better coping skills.

Mosler said it was important to create an environment where women “can feel at home.”

“Recovery is part of a healing process, and many of the underlying problems of addiction or mental illness are trauma,” she said.

“You want to get women to a place where they can get the time and the healing and the supportive environment they need to achieve long-term sobriety and recovery.”

Mayor Steve Schag said the City of Shelby is excited to become part of Ignited’s support network.

“We truly believe this place will be a place where young ladies can come and find truth…unconditional love and transformational healing,” Schag said.

Ignited: “It takes a whole village,” says Mosler

Ignited partners with local organizations and agencies – including Redemption Recovery, Catalyst Life Services and Avita Health System – to ensure women receive the care they need.

“It takes a village to do something like this, and you can see that the community is very committed to their lives,” she said. “We are just amazed by the testimonies that are coming out of this place.”

Ignited does not accept insurance and therefore values partnerships with the community, organizations and agencies.

The nonprofit works with the Starfish Project of Richland County to help women who cannot afford housing. Ignited also works with local churches and organizations to create scholarships for women.

“We invite our women to come and leave excited,” said Mosler. “We just want to hug them and love them.”
