In focus: “Stuff the Bus” collection campaign for back-to-school in Chehalis underway

The “Stuff the Bus” back-to-school supplies drive outside Walmart in Chehalis began on Friday, August 9.

As part of the campaign, donations of school supplies, clothing and money will continue to be accepted on Saturday, August 10, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Donations of goods and clothing will provide Centralia School District students with necessary items to fill gaps in their needs list that may be too expensive or unaffordable for some families.

In the eight years the event has been held, all donations have stayed local and contributed to the success of Centralia School District students.

The event is hosted by Peter Abbarno of Althauser Rayan Abbarno, LLP, and Holly Abbarno, a local educator. Sponsors include Althauser Rayan Abbarno, The Truss Co., Security State Bank, KELA, KMNT, Centralia School District, Alderson’s Awards West Printwares, the City of Centralia, Great Northwest Federal Credit Union, Dick’s Brewing Company, the United Way of Lewis County and The Chronicle.

In addition to being accepted at Walmart in Chehalis, donations can also be sent to the United Way of Lewis County, Centralia Supply Drive, 450 NW Pacific Ave., Chehalis.
