Injury update from Sam LaPorta: Lions TE injures ankle

Detroit Lions second-year tight end Sam LaPorta was carted off the field late in the first half of his team’s game against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 3.

LaPorta appeared to be run over during a hook and ladder trick play that resulted in a touchdown for running back Jahmyr Gibbs. The tight end was blocking a defender further down the field when Cardinals safety Budda Baker attempted to make a tackle and ended up colliding with LaPorta.

NFL RECORD PREDICTION: The Chiefs are dominating the regular season, but are they on course for a third straight win?

The 23-year-old initially left the field under his own power, but then rode a cart to the dressing room in the final seconds of the half. He returned to the field at the start of the second half, but eventually limped off the field again.

Detroit has declared LaPorta questionable for the remainder of the game due to an ankle injury.
