Interior views of a $77 million penthouse above London’s Hyde Park

Interior views of a million penthouse above London’s Hyde Park

Since the early 1970s, London’s Hyde Park has hosted some of the city’s biggest rock concerts, including names such as Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones and Queen. One of the British capital’s eight royal parks, which also include Kensington Gardens and St James’s Park, the 350-acre Hyde Park is full of green space and surrounded by some pretty peng properties, including a sprawling penthouse that crowns Park Modern, a luxury apartment block on Bayswater Road.

The nine-story Park Modern is a £530 million ($680 million) building designed by architect Lee Polisano of PLP Architecture. There are 55 apartments and three penthouses in total, including the showpiece penthouse unveiled by British developer Fenton Whelan this week with an asking price of $76.5 million. Eight en-suite bedrooms are spread across the 6,800 square meters, which open onto a wraparound terrace with uninterrupted views over Hyde Park. At an impressive 2,400 square meters, the terrace is one of the largest private terraces in central London, according to the developer.

Beyond the entrance is the great room, where the efforts of the developer’s in-house design studio take center stage. Here, floor-to-ceiling windows stretch throughout the residence, alongside doors that provide access to the terrace and its stunning views. A marbled, U-shaped fireplace hanging from the vaulted ceiling is the focal point of the room, separating the lounge area from a bar that features backlit shelving and bespoke joinery.

Opposite the living area is the family kitchen. There is breakfast bar seating at the large central island next to double doors that lead out onto a terrace. A second, professional kitchen is handy if you want to entertain large groups. The formal dining room comfortably seats 20 people under a chandelier and the TV room has floor-to-ceiling glass windows that offer unrivalled views of Hyde Park and nearby landmarks such as Kensington Palace and the Royal Albert Hall.

The master suite, located on the east side of the penthouse where it takes advantage of the morning light, includes an entryway and bedroom bordered by a curved glass wall that opens onto the terrace. The suite also includes a stylish walk-in dressing room with curved wall and ceiling details for added flair. A master guest suite is located on the west side of the property; it has its own private entrance and elevator lobby. Nearby is an extensive leisure suite that includes an office, games room and library.

Other luxurious amenities available to Park Modern residents include a 24-hour concierge, private movie theater, sauna and steam rooms, a 25-meter swimming pool, sauna and steam rooms, spa, and the treatment room and salon operated by Rhodium. Owners can also make reservations at the on-site Park Restaurant if they have an appetite for a gourmet slice of California-inspired cuisine.
