Is the sale of Kayden Pierre a step in the right direction for Sporting KC?

Is the sale of Kayden Pierre a step in the right direction for Sporting KC?

For the Glory KC is back with the 97th episode of the show!

Sporting Kansas City recorded a great win in its return to MLS action on Saturday, beating Orlando City 3-0, which will set the tone for Tuesday’s decisive match against Indy Eleven in the US Open Cup semifinals.

We analyze the unique formation, which included Zoran Bassong in midfield, and the best moments of the game, including goals and other performances that caught our eye.

Then we come to the rumor of the week that Kayden Pierre has been sold to the Belgian club Genk. A rumor, later confirmed by Peter Vermes. Is Mike Burns responsible for the first sale since Gianluca Busio? We talk about what this means for youth development, how the transfer money will go back into the system to help Sporting KC and more.

Unfortunately, it seems that when one KC team wins, the other is not allowed to win. The KC Current fell to the Washington Spirit earlier today in a crushing 4-1 away result. Kansas City is still on the road to face the North Carolina Courage next weekend, who are suddenly on their heels after KC slipped from 1st to 3rd in back-to-back NWSL matches. What went wrong? We offer our theories.

The current news is more mixed: The teams parted ways with Alexa Spaanstra and Lauren this week, but signed Hildah Magaia to offset some of those departures. Jereko also made her debut against Washington, but there wasn’t enough time to change the game.

And perhaps the biggest soccer news of the week: The NWSL and the NWSLPA have agreed to a new collective bargaining agreement (College and Expansion) through 2030, which includes the abolition of all drafts (College and Expansion), free agency for all, the right of players to veto transfers and much more.
