“It was an incredible feeling”

Kansas City Chiefs defensive back Chamarri Conner played a lot of time on Sunday, making key plays in the second half that helped lead to the comeback win over the Cincinnati Bengals.

Conner spoke to the media after Sunday’s win and summed up his best performance as a professional to date.

“Man, that was incredible. That was an incredible feeling,” Conner said, referring to his scoop-and-score touchdown after Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow’s fumble and the hugs from the more than 75,000 fans at Arrowhead Stadium.

The play gave the Chiefs a brief lead, but Conner had another impact on the game. The former Virginia Tech star sacked Burrow, halting Cincinnati’s fourth-quarter drive.

“Coach Spags (defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo) called a great play. He really let it rip and it was wide open for me. I couldn’t miss the layup, so I tried to hit it as quickly as I could,” said Conner, who finished the game with six tackles, four solo tackles, a sack and a tackle for loss.

Justin Reid’s hand injury forced him to the sideline several times during the game, giving Conner and other players in the secondary more playing time. The depth of the secondary shows its strength with performances like Sunday’s against the Bengals.
