Actor Jason Momoa promoted his vodka company on Monday by visiting Boston rooftop bars and talking to fans.

More than 100 people met with Momoa for an after-work drink at the View Boston at the Prudential Center on Monday, September 9.

Guests heard the story of how Momoa created his vodka brand, Meili Vodka, before the Game of Thrones star passed around shots and took selfies with fans.

Momoa and co-founder Blane Halvorson, who Momoa said designed costumes for the actor’s roles in “Aquaman” and “Frontier,” first tried to start Meili Vodka nine years ago.

First, Momoa said, they had to find “the best source of water” since vodka makes up about 60% of the alcohol.

The duo tested water sources from Antarctica to Greenland before stumbling upon a spring in Montana, which was brought to the duo’s attention by Halvorson’s father.

“It’s one of the cleanest water sources in Montana and there are only two on this continent where the EPA no longer has to test it or filter it,” Momoa explained. “It’s so pure and clean.”

Momoa described the vodka as sweeter and less salty than other vodkas and recommended that people drink it warm to get the full experience. However, the actor said you can enjoy it cold or in “your favorite cocktail.” Bottles retail for $20 to $24.

Stratus, the bar at the View Boston, was packed with fans excited to try the vodka. At one point, one fan shouted that the liquor was “sexy like you guys,” referring to Momoa and Halvorson.

“It’s sexy like us,” Momoa shouted back approvingly.

“It tastes good. It looks good,” Momoa added.

The actor then left the View Boston to further promote Meili Vodka at the Nautilus Pier 4 and on the roof of the Envoy Hotel in Seaport.

Momoa will continue his Boston tour by performing with his band Oof TATATA at Memoire at Encore Hotel and Casino. Doors open at 7 p.m. and tickets can be purchased online.
