J. “Keith” Hill – O’Donnell-Cookson Celebration of Life Home – Muddy River News

J. “Keith” Hill, 93, of Quincy, passed away at 5:30 a.m. on Monday, August 5, 2024, at Quincy Healthcare & Senior Living in Quincy, IL.

Keith was born on September 29, 1930, in Pittsfield, Illinois to Ingalls Hill and Anetta Hyde. He married Imogene Ellis on February 25, 1950, in Quincy. She predeceased him on March 26, 2011.

He is survived by his children, Pamela Nebe (Gary), Keitha Stark (Oscar) and Mark Hill (Jeanne), all of Quincy; twelve grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, eleven great-great-grandchildren and a brother, Roger Hill (Norma) of Wildwood, MO; and four nieces, Jan Hamilton, Gail Schroeder, Monica Salmons and Carissa Hill.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his two sons, Kent Robert Hill and Ronald E. Hill, and a brother, Charles Hill and his wife Barbara of Washington, MO.

Keith was a man known not only for his devotion to his family, but also for his decades of hard work as a truck driver. His zest for life was evident in his various interests. He loved to hunt and reveled in the pursuit of deer, ducks and geese. He enjoyed fishing on the Mississippi River, as well as golfing and skeet shooting at the North Side and South Side Boat Clubs. Friends often found him relaxing at his river camp or trying his luck at the Mark Twain Casino. Keith was a staunch and devoted Chicago Cubs fan throughout his life.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Greenmount Cemetery in Quincy. Rev. Tim Woodard will officiate. A celebration of life for family and friends will follow the funeral service at the North Side Boat Club.

Memorial donations may be made to the North Side Boat Club Trap League or Blessing Hospice.
