Jackson 5 star Tito Jackson has died | Ents & Arts News

Tito Jackson, founding member of the Jackson 5 and brother of Michael Jackson, has died at the age of 70.

His death was announced “with a heavy heart” by his sons Taj, Taryll and TJ Jackson, who themselves rose to fame in the 1990s as the R’n’B/pop trio 3T.

“We are shocked, saddened and heartbroken,” they wrote on Instagram while sharing family photos. “Our father was an incredible man who cared about everyone and their well-being.”

They continued: “We will miss him terribly. For us, it will always be ‘Tito time.’ Please remember to do what our father always preached and that is ‘Love one another.’ We love you, Dad.”

Tito was a founding member of the Jackson 5 along with brothers Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon and Michael – who became one of the most successful solo stars in the world until his death in 2009.

In total there were nine siblings, including Janet and LaToya Jackson.

With the Jackson 5, Tito had hits such as “ABC,” “I Want You Back” and “I’ll Be There” in the 1970s and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1997.
