Jaime Munguia is ready for the next phase of his still promising career.

The former WBO junior middleweight titleholder and current 168-pound challenger is ready for his first fight since the only loss of his career. Munguia, of Tijuana, weighed in at 167.7 pounds, while Canadian Erik Bazinyan weighed in at 167.9 pounds.

Their scheduled 12-round super middleweight bout will culminate an ESPN tripleheader on Friday at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona.

Munguia (43-1, 34 knockouts) is coming off a loss to RING super middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (62-2-2, 39 KOs) on May 4. Their fight was Munguia’s first fight as a pay-per-view headliner.

Friday marks his debut on ESPN and Top Rank, and he enters the fight as the No. 2 super middleweight in the ring.

Top Rank went all out for his first fight under the federation’s auspices, with his weigh-in appearance complete with a promotional package and a live mariachi band.

Bazinyan (32-0-1, 23 KOs) is no stranger to the platform. The Ring’s No. 7-ranked contender has made multiple appearances on ESPN+ under Camille Estephan’s Eye of the Tiger Management promotion.

His last appearance, however, somewhat tarnished the shine of his career. Bazinyan suffered his first blemish in a ten-round draw with the unknown Shakeel Phinn on May 2 in Montreal.

The fight against Munguia is Bazinyan’s first on U.S. soil since 2019.
