Jalen Ramsey and Jaelan Phillips cannot train on Wednesday

Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey has been unable to practice recently, but the team did not have to announce until Wednesday why he was absent from the field.

Ramsey landed on the first injury report of the season as a non-participant and is listed with a hamstring injury. Head coach Mike McDaniel did not say whether Ramsey might miss Sunday’s game against the Jaguars, but indicated that Ramsey will limit his activity to avoid aggravating his problem.

“I have never been so proud of a player do not practice”, said McDaniel about the Miami-Herald.

Edge rusher Jaelan Phillips is returning from a torn Achilles and was also absent from practice. He was listed as seeking rest on top of his Achilles injury, and McDaniel sounded confident Phillips will play this weekend, although he will likely have a limited role.

“Obviously there are a few components,” McDaniel said. “There have been positive checkboxes for so long. Everyone is on board; we have to manage it in some ways. … We have to remember that this is his first game back and we have another game four days later.”

Tackle Terron Armstead and defensive lineman Calais Campbell also took days off. Linebacker Quinton Bell (thumb), center Aaron Brewer (hand), cornerback Kendall Fuller (rest), defensive tackle Benito Jones (knee), linebacker David Long (rest), safety Jordan Poyer (thumb, rest), linebacker Anthony Walker (knee, rest) and wide receiver Malik Washington (quad) all had limited participation.
