On Friday evening, a fight broke out between members of the rock band Jane’s Addiction at their concert in Boston.

In a video recorded and shared on social media, frontman Perry Farrell can be seen hitting guitarist Dave Navarro in a heated exchange.

Farrell, 65, violently charged at Navarro, 57, on stage. The guitarist appeared to place his hands on the frontman’s chest, apparently in an attempt to stop him from moving on.

During the tense confrontation, Farrell appeared to yell at Navarro until he punched the guitarist.

Security guards quickly broke up the fight and ordered Farrell to “stop” while they detained him to prevent further attacks on the guitarist.

Navarro grabbed Farrell by the arm and angrily tried to attack the guitarist again.

Farrell’s wife, Etty Lau, commented on the altercation on social media and described the events.

“Instead of speculating, I thought I’d post a firsthand account of what happened last night with Jane’s Addiction onstage at Lender Pavilion in Boston,” Lau wrote on Instagram.

“There was obviously a lot of tension and animosity between the members… the magic that made the band so dynamic. Well, the dynamite was ignited. Perry went at Dave and body checked him,” she explained.

Lau added that the dispute was due to Perry’s patience running out as his health was not the best before the band’s performance.

“Perry’s frustration grew night after night. He felt like the volume on stage was extremely loud and his voice was being drowned out by the band,” she continued.

“Perry suffered from tinnitus and a sore throat every night. But when the audience in the front row started complaining to Perry and yelling at him that the band was playing too loudly and they couldn’t hear him, Perry freaked out.”

In her lengthy post, Lau wrote that Eric Avery, the founder and co-songwriter of Jane’s Addiction, was the one who “won the battle.”

“Eric approached Perry in the dark, at the back of the stage… put Perry in a headlock and punched him three times in the stomach. Kevin, a crew member with long hair… pulled Eric away. Then Eric calmly walked to the front of the stage to apologize to the audience for ending the show early.”

She went on to say that the aftermath of the concert brawl ended with Eric “throwing some unfair punches at Perry.”

“Perry was a mad animal for the next half hour – he finally didn’t calm down, he just broke down and cried and cried.”
