JD Vance mocked for embarrassing photo attempt in donut shop

Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance didn’t exactly receive a warm welcome when he entered a donut shop in Georgia.

Vance visited Holt’s Sweet Shop in Valdosta, Georgia, on Thursday while in town for a campaign rally. In a video that critics are disparaging on social media, Vance enters the doughnut shop and is almost immediately told by the employee behind the counter that she does not want to be filmed.

“The zoo has come to town. Thank you for letting us come,” Vance said.

“Yes, sir,” the woman replied, adding, “I don’t want to be on camera,” when she saw people filming.

“She doesn’t want to be filmed, guys, so she just cuts out of everything,” Vance said.

The Republican ordered two dozen doughnuts and then introduced himself to the employee.

“I’m JD Vance. I’m running for vice president,” he said.

“Okay,” the woman replied.

As another employee stepped behind the counter, Vance asked each of them how long they had worked there. The woman, who did not want to go on camera, said she started in July, while the other said she had been there for two years.

“If you don’t want to be filmed, that’s fine,” an unidentified person can be heard telling the employee who asked not to appear on camera.

Vance visited the store before stopping by Trump headquarters in the same Georgia city. Critics quickly seized on the video, accusing Vance of acting “awkward” during the conversation.
