Jenna Ortega shares surprising items she found in Tim Burton’s house, including a ‘jar full of eyeballs’

Jenna Ortega gives her fans a glimpse into director Tim Burton’s house.

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, the actress recounted that the famous director once invited her to his home for a meeting. Describing the residence, she mentioned the unique furnishings he had furnished it with, including his figurines of “little creatures,” as she called them.

“You go in and it’s the giant throne from ‘Alice in Wonderland,“, explained Ortega, adding: “There is a jar of eyeballs in the bathroom.”

Burton is known in Hollywood as the eccentric mastermind behind some of the most bizarre and offbeat films, including The Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands, Sweeney Todd and many more.

The actress and director first worked together on the first season of the popular Netflix series “Wednesday,” in which Ortega played the title character Wednesday Addams. Although Ortega wasn’t sure what the meeting at Burton’s house was about, he didn’t expect it to take such a turn.

“He just handed me a script and it was ‘Beetlejuice,'” she said.

After years of fans begging for a sequel to the 1988 cult classic, a follow-up film was announced in February 2022. Ortega recalled reading the script for the first time and said, “I immediately thought, ‘Oh man, they’ve done something here.'”

The sequel, titled Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, features the return of many of the original film’s stars, including Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, and Michael Keaton, who reprises his role as the pugnacious ghost Beetlejuice.

Speaking to Vanity Fair, Burton called Ortega “one of my favorite collaborators,” adding that “she’s different from anyone else” he’s worked with in the past. He also compared her to Ryder, who has now starred in four of his films.

“They both had very strong souls when they were young,” he said. “They are like silent film actors.”

Ryder and Burton first worked together when she was 17 on the original Beetlejuice film. She later starred in Burton’s Edward Scissorhands (1990) and Frankenweenie (2012).

Both Ryder and Ortega have enjoyed great success since working with Burton. Ryder received two Oscar nominations for her work in The Ages of Innocence and Little Women and now stars in Netflix’s Stranger Things, while Ortega received an Emmy nomination for her work in Wednesday and starred in the reboot of Scream.
