Marvel Star Jeremy Renner is selling his $13 million forever home in Los Angeles as he looks to downsize following his near-fatal snow plowing accident in January 2023.

The midcentury property in Laurel Canyon, California, holds a lot of personal history for the 53-year-old Renner, who is best known as the lead actor in the “The Avengers” film series.

According to the Wall Street Journal, not only did he invest a whopping $5.5 million in renovating the property, the one-story home is also where he spent much of his time while recovering from injuries sustained in the snowplow accident.

Renner suffered broken 38 bones and a collapsed lung when the 6,400-kilogram vehicle struck him in front of his ranch in Lake Tahoe, Nevada.

He described his healing as an “eternal” process and admitted that it would haunt him “for the rest of my life.”

Although the actor still considers the Nevada property his primary residence, he admits he expected to keep the LA property for many years to come. He told the WSJ, “It was kind of like a forever home.”

However, as he continues to intensively recover from the January 2023 accident, he has come to the conclusion that his time would be better spent focusing on other things, including his return to acting and writing a book addressing the accident and its aftermath.

But giving up the house is no small feat for Renner. He bought the property for $4 million in 2012 and invested a tremendous amount of time, energy (and money!) into transforming it into the picture-perfect home you see in the listing photos.

Renner told the WSJ that when he bought the house, it looked almost the same as it did when it was built in the 1960s, joking that it had “all these little buttons that looked like they were on Star Trek, all that stuff that was kind of cool and high-tech in the ’60s.”

He explained that it was important to him not to lose the historic elements of the house or its unique charm during the renovation. As part of this renovation, he expanded the property and incorporated several elements that he wanted for his dream property.

More glass walls fill the master bedroom, transforming it into a green retreat. A wraparound balcony surrounds the room, which features two closets and a luxurious bathroom with dual vanities and a deep soaking tub.

The other four en-suite bedrooms also have outside access and the house is fitted with eco-friendly Fleetwood doors made from recycled aluminium and glass.

The property also features a guest house with a recording studio (which could also be used as a home office), a private cinema, a beautiful pool with spa, and bridges and waterfalls on the property for quiet reflection.

After a stay in intensive care, several surgeries, and learning to walk again, Renner was able to return to work on the third season of “May of Kingstown” just one year after his accident.

In addition to his work on television, Renner has appeared in many acclaimed films, such as “The Town,” alongside Ben Affleckand the Oscar-winning Iraq war drama “The Hurt Locker.”

In fact, Renner – who made most of his money as an aspiring actor buying and renovating homes in LA – apparently spared no expense in creating a haven for his personal passions: art and music.

The house has a recording studio where he recorded several songs about his near-death experience, as well as a home theater.

Meanwhile, the stunning nature of nearby Nichols Canyon is reflected in this modern home through large double glass doors and dark, polished wood details on the floors, ceilings and cabinets.

The main living area provides easy access to the formal dining room and kitchen, where two islands and a professional suite of appliances await, including a coveted La Cornue stove.
