Mötley Crüe guitarist John 5 has partnered with PETA to promote pet adoption.

The rocker and his rescue dog Churrosa hairless Chinese Crested Dog mix, appears in a new campaign for the organization that encourages people to bring their pets to shelters rather than buying them or getting them from breeders.

In the clip, John 5 tells Churro’s story, revealing that he was left in a box in the desert of San Bernardino, California, and likely would not have survived if he hadn’t been rescued in time.

“It is heartbreaking to even think about it,” he says. “We had Getting Churro – there were no ifs, ands or buts. We were lucky enough to adopt him and he is just the best. … We literally can’t go anywhere without him – he’s always with us. So he’s just part of the family.”

John 5 then encourages the public to visit animal shelters when looking for a pet, noting, “It’s so important to adopt an animal because you see these helpless animals there and they just want to be loved.” He adds, “If you adopt an animal, it will enrich your life so much. Treat these animals the way you want to be treated. … Give them a good home.”

John 5 says in the video that Churro is going on tour with him and that he will be starting a new tour soon. The rocker’s Strung Out Tour 2024 kicks off on September 1 in Boston. For a full list of dates, visit john-5.com.
