But then her coaches submitted a request on her behalf. According to NBC Olympics, “A request is a verbal challenge to the score of an exercise. This is followed by a written request that must be submitted before the end of the rotation. The challenge cannot be made until after the gymnast’s final score is announced and before the end of the next gymnast’s exercise.”

If the gymnast competes last, according to the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), a time limit of one minute applies, which begins after the score is displayed on the scoreboard.
