Jordan Montalvo and Carlos Cardonell-Perez, both 23, were observed in a parked van at the closed AM Express gas station on South Main Street just after midnight on August 14. Sergeant Poole was on patrol when she noticed a hand reaching through the floor of the van and inserting a pipe into a fuel port. Poole then approached the two individuals, later identified as Montalvo and Cardonell-Perez, and attempted to speak with them in an attempt to arrest them.

However, Cardonell-Perez got out of the passenger seat and fled in the direction of the Blush nail salon. Montalvo got out of the driver’s side and was taken into custody. Officers later found Cardonell-Perez and arrested him as well. During a subsequent search, police discovered a system of drums, pumps and batteries inside the van used to siphon gasoline. An AM Express employee then arrived, checked the gasoline system and informed them that 92 gallons of gasoline valued at $330.82 had been stolen. Montalvo was then taken to intake and charged with trespassing and theft.

Jordan Montalvo was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail on August 14 on charges of theft and trespassing. A corrections commissioner set his bail at $3,000.
